The EU agricultural product policy is what keeps consumers safe, it's internal EU policy so that its citizens don't consume toxic and carcinogenic slop, and it's absolutely not unfair to want that. Big Agro in the US would rather use Trump to force their way into other markets than actually make agricultural products fit for human consumption. The current trade deal between the US and the EU is fair, as neither side can claim it offers the other free access to its market, and considering that Trump wants nothing less than to bring down the EU, conceding anything to him would be very bad indeed, the EU would just undermine itself.
