There's a reason for it so the crew can see there's nothing wrong with the engine, also if (sometimes does genuinely happen too) inflight especially when a military jet will appear next to the wing, typically if they've gone into military airspace which they don't have clearance/authorisation for, they're kind of like (they appear on GPS's with the zones indicated on them as well) zones for areas controlled by certain ATC centres. Costs the airline a load of money too in fines as well, but really they'll move at least towards the front and make a hand indication to the Captain or the 1st Officer (standard hand signal) to turn onto their military comm frequency.
