  1. Im just wildly amusing you're american yeah? The reality is not only that but you dont even need to be a resident of the UK by law alone to be allowed to even become a candidate all you need by the local elections is 30 signatures I think it is of the constituency where you want to be elected and then you can become a local elections candidate, seriously thats how open it is (obviously one of those countries must be a commonwealth nation). Though on 2nd thought actually that might be to do with the local borough (perhaps the parish) councils (plain councils being the local borough councils I mean).

  2. A fair enough, wasn't a criticism was actually a fair enough point even if you were comparing it to other countries you do have a valid point with your original comment, take care and it certainly wasn't meant to in anyway criticise actually I'd agree 100% lol.

I think though if one was to use the example of the US Senators at least (not sure about the lower house) need to have lived in the state of which they are a senator or something such as that, it could be slightly more varied they either have to have that or be born or have relatives in the state I am not really certain to be really honest. There's more lax laws on the lower house though by comparison I do know that much.
