How can you stabilize rent but don't stabilize property taxes, insurance rates, maintenance costs, and all the other expenses? Everyone only looks at one side of the coin.

@k.w.8496 absolutely! Government failed miserably at providing affordable housing. So they tore down 90% of the projects and pushed the burden onto the landlords. This isn't sustainable. Rent control will eventually fail also.

@ZentaBon You are completely wrong! No company owes you anything but your paycheck at the end of the week and the benefits they promised.

@ZentaBon You got paid for performing a job a fair exchange. When they started the company and risked millions of dollars the people weren't going to chip in and refund their investment if the company failed.

@m8hackr60 You would like to believe that I haven't lived that life but I have. I grew up very poor in a community where most of the pain and struggle was self-induced. The bottom line is no one cares about us. It is up to us to find a way to make it. You can't pass you problems off to the landlords back to carry. No one complains when the auto companies take the car back, or when the mortgage company forecloses on the house, but the landlord is supposed take a beating!

@jacobnapkins1155 people aren't priced out, they simply want to live in a great home at someone else's expense. Homes have been available since 2009 folks chose not to buy.

@LifeInJambles You don't have to be scared just buy your own home. If the property is in unsatisfactory condition you should be leaving anyway I know I would.

@LifeInJambles If landlords are lazy people with money who don't wanna work, what are the banks? No one gets upset when the bank forecloses on a home, but God help the landlord who evicts a tenant.

@LifeInJambles No their not they will bailed out. Mom and pop landlords won't. LA and SF still have an eviction moratorium going on. They are literally taking the landlords property.

@LifeInJambles No don't feel sorry for me, recognize that your shortcomings in life are not my fault. So don't try to push onto my plate to deal with. If you can't pay the rent leave, no hard feelings. In the future your chances of finding another place to live will decrease significantly. Landlords have bills to pay on that property, so just leave.

@jacobnapkins1155 There are plenty of properties on the market for anyone who wants to buy one. There are lots of people who choose not to own a property. When government agencies list properties they always make sure homeowners have the first shot at buying the property. No one is keeping anyone from buying a property.

@katethegoat7507 You can stop paying rent whenever you want, just buy a house. Secondly, you never stop paying for a house, taxes, insurance, maintenance, and whatever else they can come up with. If anyone is out of touch it's you!

@katethegoat7507 You would like for that to be true! The real problem is you want someone else to solve your personal problems for you. Landlords are not the government and they shouldn't be forced to be a part of the social safety net. If you don't like what landlords are doing "buy a house."
