Landlords aren't whining about the cost tenants are. We adjust the rent based on our cost, just like every other industry does.

1000.00 doesn't work in California, property taxes alone are 18,000 a year.

@jasongist3791 public housing run by the government, rent control doesn't belong in America a capitalist society. But you know government failed miserably in the 60s, 70s, and 80s at providing affordable housing.

@jasongist3791 the facts are the facts. We've been doing this for 18 years we know what we are talking about. Most folks come on here with a single focus based on their experience, which promotes illogical solutions. The bottom line is, nobody can take better care of you than you. If want to own a home and stop renting figure out a way to get it done. If not you are at the mercy of the industry.

@jasongist3791 that's it! The private sector isn't responsible for providing affordable housing the government is. You're making my case. Government should leave private sector housing out of the equation and stay focused on government housing no matter how horrible of a job they do.

The problem I have with the young lady is she didn't tell the truth. Landlords lost millions because of non paying tenants. The money the government passed out to Landlords did come with stipulations, such as you can't evict if you take this money. The real problem is, it's the government's responsibility to provide affordable housing not the private Landlords. Everyone is blaming the landlord but after 2+ years of no rent coming in, significant increases in property taxes and insurance, maintenance costs, and municipal fees, rents have to increase. Landlords were hurt the most from this pandemic. If you don't want to be a renter you gotta figure something out, not the landlord.

Ok Rocket Boards, We are real world landlords, so I'm going to explain to you how prices have increased on landlords. 1. Property taxes do increase on rental properties because they aren't homesteaded, so when the value of that property increases your taxes increase. 2. If the value of your property increases the insurance company charges you higher premiums. 3. Municipalities are constantly increasing their fees on landlords and requiring a boat load of unnecessary inspections.4. We have 7 properties that have not paid a dime in over 2 years, they didn't qualify for assistance because they were working the entire time, and we couldn't evict. 5. Finally, the cost of everything is up, I don't understand how you can't see that. I know you want to pay the same price for rent today that you were paying 5 years ago but it doesn't work like that. Everything from food to cars is up, but the landlord better not raise his rent!

@thetahedgecapital1008 great point

@omegabat39 wrong, wrong. Wrong. Housing isn't something the government should supply you with. It is impossible to supply homes and maintain the economy.

@omegabat39 I promise you I have a real job. It looks to me that you are probably an evictee! Your success in life is predicated on your efforts and yours alone. If you believe Sweden has a better way of handling the housing situation, maybe you should move to Sweden. You could never make sure I fail because you are a failure. What kind of person begs for the government to make them whole, to provide for them what they can't provide for themselves. Here in America we like to stand on our own two feet, we take pride in providing for our family. We understand that profit is part of the motivation to do well, while others despise anyone who earns a profit. You will be in for a rude awakening here very soon, when your free lunch is taken away. As for the free market handling the housing situation, let's just say they didn't handle it, they screwed it up like the government always does. This is why you are being priced out of your rental.

@omegabat39 The channel scared you because you know it will end your trifling ways as a renter.

@omegabat39 The truth

@PS i have plenty of compassion and I know the truth. May you learn to understand character and the laws of nature.
1
@PS No, these issues were personally made. The only man made issue is the eviction moratorium where folks got to live for free and are now upset that they are being evicted. Landlords aren't affordable housing institutions.
