Upgrade your gpu. That's honestly the only way. Gnome3 is designed for modern hardware, you have Gnome2 (Mate) for older hardware. Though, I'm using Gnome3 on my Intel Pentium B950, and it works smooth enough for my noticing. Fedora has the best Gnome3 integration today, and driver manager is similar to Ubuntu or Manjaro, only built into the app store. All you have to do is install RPM Fusion https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration from this site, both free and non free versions, that way you'll have the complete experience. Install updates, install Nvidia driver, and godspeed. Sorry for the long post and hope everything ends up as it should :D

Well, as I said, the default Gnome version gives you one-click installs for both Nvidia driver and the driver manager. It should recognise the configuration and let you just pick the GPU you want to use. Have you tried that way? Or the good ol' asking the web way?
