Naturalism and supernaturalism are both incoherent positions because what counts as natural keeps changing. If you went back to the dark ages and showed them a really powerful magnet, they'd probably call that supernatural. Which it obviously isn't. So we shouldn't call things natural or supernatural either because we can't know what that even means ahead of time.

He didn't say Newton's theory. So he wasn't technically wrong. He probably meant General Relativity.

Reliably predicting the age at which certain fossils will occur in the fossil record is a fairly convincing test. If they suddenly found dolphins existing 200 million years ago, that would falsify the theory.

That's not just interpretation at all. When you have specificity of predictions and a large number of them that all end up being correct, and which can't be predicted by any other theory, it means your theory is very likely right, or some other theory that's functionally identical is right. I recommend David Deutsche's TED talk on scientific explanations where he goes into the detail of this.
