Actually, the phrase is "Real Communism Has Never Been Tried".
And this is a true statement.
Communism is a classless, stateless society where the workers own the means of production.
•there's never been any state that did not have a fat political class, etc...
•communists have never talked the world into giving up their sovereignty to join a stateless collective.
•No one, anywhere ever, State or private, has been willing to give up the control & bounty of the means of production to the peasants.
☝️ Communism is nothing but the wet dream of drunken slacker sons of wealthy capitalist families .. and he & Engel knew it: hence, socialism (the proverbial stepping stone to their unattainable pipe dream...in reality, the carrot no worker will ever grasp .. but it's great propaganda to "keep hope alive").
Practically speaking, communism is a synonym for Marxism ... 2 words that denote political collectivism.
Practically speaking it's an ideology, not a real-world political model for arranging society.
Neither Bezos or Xi, or anyone in between, has any intention of giving up control of the $$$!
If Marx were here with us today, he wouldn't either; he was a prime example of one who loved everyone else's money: his daddy's, his wife's, his uncle's, and lived out his life on a stipend from Engel...who btw returned to capitalism to support them both.

As to socialism, it's been tried several times over in it's 104 year history, and failed every time.
It lasted 69 yrs in Russia before the Bolsheviks resigned themselves to failure.
Today....
Russia:
Privatization has become the most successful reform in Russia. By September 1993, more than 20 percent of Russian industrial workers were employed by privatized firms.
State-owned enterprises in Russia still play an important role in the national economy. The approximately 4,100 enterprises that have some degree of state ownership accounted for 39% of all employment in 2007 (down from over 80% in 1990).
According to certain experts' estimates, in 2015, the share (contribution) of state-owned enterprises in the GDP was near 29%–30% and the total contribution of the public sector (private business) was near 70% (compared to 35% in 2005).
