@tombarry2523 I think it was something to do with stopping the counts when he was well ahead, and starting again when they had found the votes they needed.

I don't agree with Owen Jones on much, but he's been a lot better than Alexander about what is going on in Gaza.

@chrisconway2243 Alexander has got better over time as he has been exposed to the points of view of people with a greater background in Middle Eastern history and politics than he has. But for weeks after October 7th his only criticisms of Israel related to their short-sightedness in how they acted to achieve their goals, rather than to what their goals were. He seemed unable to see that there was a Palestinian point of view; he only saw intelligent Israeli points of view (whose absence he bemoaned) and stupid Israeli points of view (which he criticised). He accepted without reservation the Israeli account of what happened that day, and was visibly emotionally upset about it in a way that he has never been visibly upset about the depradations on innocent Palestinians. Whatever you think of the GrayZone's purported debunking of Israel's stories about that day, he never paused to consider that such debunking might be possible, let alone that he might look into the question himself before assuming total Israeli truthfulness. He has always been critical, almost contemptuous, of people who assume that the conflict between Russia and the Kiev regime started on 24th of February 2022, ignoring everything that led up to that date and that made Russia's actions understandable. Yet he immediately and enthusiastically fell into exactly the same error about 7th October 2023 and Palestinian actions.

@chrisconway2243 For anyone wanting to see my answer to Chris's very reasonable question, you will have to choose to see replies ordered by time rather than by number of upvotes. People who accepted the default arrangement used to be able to see that they were being deprived of some of the replies, or even, occasionally, all of them. ("6 replies", followed by just two that were visible.) But now the reported number of replies has been adjusted to the number that are actually shown, so that you don't know what you are missing. So it is always best to change your preferences before browsing replies, if you want to see the most interesting ones.

@tombarry2523 Russia will never have problems defeating a country that habitually can't tell the difference between "can" and "can't".
