  1.  duncansmith7562  they don't go down, haven't you noticed that lower costs for supermarkets rarely get passed on. Only strong competition reduces prices. You mention phones they haven't really come down but for sake of argument let's say they have... those brands are competing for your business with phone features and price. Now if you can sell at an inflated price even if it's higher than a competitor because your phone has better features then you will. Now take food, all large supermarkets are owned by non British companies they are now since energy prices increased plus some shortages due to droughts plus the extra costs of bringing into britain for example from the eu would all be price matched to ensure they make as much % profit as say they did in 2013. Now that's not only what's happening. The largest 3 are making excess profits % over and above their norm. So let's say all external forces taken into account they make 10% year in year out now that level is higher. Therefore it's deliberate. Food isn't am hoice like a phone so they're all sticking prices up and they know they can because there is near no or very little competition except perhaps your aldi type shops who don't have a wide range of goods in any case. If you do not believe what's happening I'd direct you to the parliamentary select committe and discussions between ministers and Teresa coffey on the subject
