  14. The news cycle shifts where the more pertinent stories happen. The anti-abortion law affects more people here in this country, so it gets more direct coverage. Don’t worry, if Afghanistan is important enough, the news will return to it. And frankly, part of the “outrage” is that Joe Biden says he opposes the Texas law, but implies that the process for reversing it is more obscure and complicated than it actually seems to be. Kind of a big thing to overlook, or hope most Americans don’t know about.

  15. I think you’ve got it backwards. There’s no logic in supporting or getting wishy-washy over the filibuster because you think you’re doomed in the upcoming midterms… but there is logic in dooming yourself to lose the election if you keep stalling on it. It’s not lazy voters you have to worry about. It’s apathetic ones, the ones who won’t vote at all if they think Democrats aren’t even trying to slow the Republicans down.
