  19. If you don’t like the idea, then take it with a grain of salt. Back in college, I’ve passed a few Christian speakers to and from classes. One time I stopped to ask the guy (whose crowd had dispersed) why exactly God hates gays and lesbians, as it said on his sign, and “Is it mentioned in a Bible verse? I’ve never heard anyone cite a verse.” What he said didn’t change my mind, but he deserved to think he had a chance.

  20. None of that makes it less inhumane. They’re people. Most of them were treated inhumanely by the countries they fled from. Even without the razor wire and the guards, our backed-up citizenship procession ensures the “bad ones” wouldn’t get in anyway. I think a lot of people flat-out don’t know that.

I’m not saying there aren’t conservatives who can rein in their ambitions for the sake of a liberal partner. I’m saying those kinds of people are rare.

  42. While it is true that California has more COVID-19 deaths than Texas (At the moment, 70,300 to 68,245), it has a lower per-capita COVID-19 death rate (178 to 235).
