  1. Have you considered that maybe they couldn’t? That they were desperate to get away from conditions at home and had to take the options made available to them? Cases where wealthy people have to do something are much fewer and further between.

  2. Well, we want to care about the migrants. That starts with knowing about their situation. Cenk is right - both cases were tragic, and both cases should’ve gotten proper coverage. We’re mostly indifferent about the billionaires because they got the coverage, and it still wasn’t enough.

  3. That’s easier to tell a wealthy man than a migrant desperate for a better life. Desperation will make you do surprising, logic-defying things.

  4. Maybe they missed with the exact amounts… but they didn’t miss on the overall point. It was more people, but because it was more poor people, most of us are learning about it here.
