I'm glad he acknowledges that time is a non-sequitur here. Any iteration of "It's not a problem now, and it won't be for a long time" rubs me the wrong way, because that's essentially passing the buck. If you don't expect to be alive when the deadline comes, you'll be less engaged in the details of a proper solution, and more assumptive that others will handle it. Even if you do expect to live that long, stating as much will make you seem complacent, and put a greater strain on your future self. It doesn't matter how far apart a future date is from the present; They're both notches on the same line of time.
