  8.  @brendaf3132  Every inmate costs the state $87k a year. We lock up people with mental illness because our country is draconic and refuses to acknowledge the part it plays in creating criminals out of thin air.

  10.  @GillAgainsIsland12  Or you missed mine. We treat mental illness as criminality. If the prisons are full we have no room for new offenders. Keeping criminals locked up is insanely expensive. It's literally cheaper to pay them to not do crimes. All you do is make hardened criminals out if non violent offenders because you are a sadist who will forever double down on failure.
