Comments by "Martyn Blackburn" (@martynblackburn9632) on "ITV: We found no evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour" video.
He says he is sorry for the affair - that he cheated on his wife - not that he groomed the young man. The young man might have been a consenting adult at the time.

@cliff heywood Again. What has his politics to do with this? Plenty is not a valid response.

@freddysquirenaranjo4859 Groomed: prepare or train (someone) for a particular purpose or activity. This is legal as it does not imply anything sexual. In Schofield's case, this also applies since there is no evidence that sex or amorous romance was involved at the age of 15. The report was that Schofield had an affair with a "young man" and therefore the man could have been a consenting adult at the time that this took place.
2
Nope. That is false. She is merely a witness, not omniscient.
2
Maybe they knew nothing was going on between him and "young man" until the age of consent was reached.
2
What has his politics got to do with this?
2
It is indeed hearsay, also the notion that Schofield is a "nonce" is not scentific. This stinks of a bigoted right wing witch-hunt.
2
The report was that there was no grooming except by which the "young man" was being prepared for a career at ITV studios.
2
"I want Schofield to be found a nonce like his brother. To hell with evidence, to hell with the facts!"
2
He didn't as far as the evidence goes. He wasn't 15 at the time that this affair started. There is no mention of the age and the reports only mention "young man", and so therefore he could have consented as an adult.
2
According to investigation. They would not report evidence based upon testimony of just one person. They would have also asked the "young man" and anyone else involved.
1
@forevertipsy3550 That's completely irrelevant and it's also false.
1
Likely as a consenting adult. Yes.
1
Nope. This is not born out by the evidence. That is an unfounded rumour.
1
@mesolithicman164 Of course it would be a resigning issue. That's how rumours sometimes work. People are forced to leave on account of such rumours. Add a media that amplifes this and you have the perfect recipe for witch-hunt based on rumours.
1
So you presume guility with no evidence? That's not how we do things in this country. Try Zimbabwe or Sudan.
1
There is no ring. It's one man. His brother did not work at ITV studios.
1
There is nothing absolute about it. It's just rumour until the time those rumours are found to be true.

GBNews is the home of bigotry, same goes for TalkTV. In their own lives, outside of the internet world, perhaps they wouldn't be so bigoted, but I've dealt with many of them here and I reckon that even in their own lives they are just as bigoted as they are online. The difference is that they can let rip their hatred here online, but in real life they would probably get into some trouble.
1
Why don't you look it up instead of jumping to conclusions?
1
Well it's news dressed up as rumours. It's not real journalism and if the comments here are anything to by it's a toxic kangaroo court witch-hunt.
1
@melgrant7404 maybe they condone obvious grooming of a minor from the age of 2 years old. See. Anyone can jump to such conclusions.
1
With schofield now gone that would not be an issue. He is no longer associated with ITV so there's probably no legal repercussions from such an investigation.
1
@melgrant7404 BBC? Whataboutery. This is ITV, not BBC. This is Schofield, not Saville.
1
@melgrant7404 You are making an accusation based on zero evidence.

It is not uncommon for teenagers to get work experience.
