I don't rely on the Russian media, either, I rely on credible sources, mainly relatives and friends all over the Ukraine and in Crimea, as well as on serious and unbiased media. Why should Russia apologize for something it has not done? Russia has never shot down any passenger planes, either, but the US and the Ukraine certainly have.

Hence it was taken to be a military act of aggression and a threat to the Soviet Union's security. The Ukrainian military shot down Siberia Airlines Flight 1812, a commercial flight, over the Black Sea even though it was clearly in international air space. In 1988, Iran Air Flight 655 (IR655), a commercial airplane, was shot down by USS Vincennes on the Bandar Abbas-Dubai route, which resulted in the loss of life of 290 innocent civilians from six nations including 66 children. It too was flying in international air space over the Persian Gulf.

Oh, and yes, the Soviets did indeed try to contact the Korean plane, they also fired tracer rockets as a warning but it did not respond. Russia is not sending any sophisticated weaponry whatsoever to the Donbass self-defence forces, nor to Hezbollah in Lebanon. You have an uncanny knack to get your "facts" completely wrong or just make them up as you go. Your totally irrational Russiaphobia is turning your brains into mush. The real cowards are the USA who bomb innocent civilians half a world away using drones.

There were two Russian fighter jets, not one, and it was not they that felt in danger - they were dispatched to the Korean plane because it had twice intruded into Soviet air space and, as it did not respond to radio communication and to the tracer rocket, it was deemed to be a military plane and a threat to the Soviet Union. With regard to the Malaysian plane, Russia had strictly nothing to do with it. I know you are completely wrong. Russia wasn't supplying any sophisticated weapons to the self-defense militia, and it is not they who want a war, they are merely protecting and defending their families, their homes, their villages, their towns and their land. I am done with you, you are like fundamentalist Christians who stick their fingers and sing la-la-la-la-la at the top of their voices whenever presented with incontrovertible empirical evidence that proves their irrational beliefs to be wrong.
