It makes you realise how good you have it in your own modern home when all you have to do is switch on the hot water tapin your own bathroom, instead of having to trundle outside in the coldest of weathers in order to get water from a nearby lake, petrektek.

@martynass.4393 Siberia was wanted by the German nazis, marty. It is was what finished off Workd War Two. The Germans decided to invade Siberia during the autumn. They did not take into account that autumn in Siberia is a lot harsher than autumn in other places. The temperatures in the Siberian autumn were already well below zero and it was snowing heavily, so the German tanks froze and so the Germans had to surrender. There was a film of this on TV once.

@netherman1325 I would like it, too, except that a small mistake could kill you there, e.g., being inappropriately dressed could cost you your life. Animals eating your livestock could be a problem: what would you eat instead? If you needed something, no car would work on that snow and no delivery would come to you.

@mjordan5382 It also makes us more civilised and intelligent. I am not saying that those people are uncivilised. On the contrary, they seem very capable, but, without civilization, most other nations would be little better than animals, because we would not know right from wrong and stupidity would make us barbaric.

@mjordan5382 Tribal people do not live as long as civilised people. Their healthcare is not as developed. As for their being happier, they fought each other a lot more in the past. History is riddled with primitive tribes constantly fighting each other.

@BDub2024 I do not like extreme heat, either, because it makes it difficult to sleep at night, even if I do open the window. But I wonder how Yakutsk, albeit SOUTH of the Arctic Circle, is COLDER than the Arctic, rather than WARMER.

@BDub2024 They may not want to travel. Do not forget that those are different people, with a different culture. To them, the freezing North is home. Anywhere else would seem strange to them.

@Alias_Ex For insane salaries, many would go to any part of the world. As for nobody wanting to go to Siberia, why are there people living in the Longyearbyen, Alaska and other extremely cold places, in which the temperature is no higher than in Siberia?

@androidexpert-ar-6074 But you do not live in a place, in which they are hesitant to fit pipes because they are afraid that the pipes will burst in the freezing winter. Nor do you have to carve out wood to put in a stove and light it to heat the freezing water and wait five hours in order for the water to be only reasonably warm.
