  1. Most UK citizens living in the EU are not taking jobs, but creating employment by spending UK pension pots, so I don't see why countries concerned would want this to stop... It's far more likely they will want to encourage UK pensioners to retire in the sun - no matter what the EU has to say. As for those employed - the UK will still be taking far more from the EU27 than the EU27 takes from UK - so I don't see how EU is in a position to get tough. I expect it will end up as different arrangements with individual EU countries.

  2. That could be because the UK is currently in the EU. The figure of Brits in the EU27 is probably less than a million. Although most of these are of working age you have to factor in that people can retire at 50 and under and operate UK based businesses from abroad and most well off wives don't work. Of course there are Brits working in the EU27, but I've travelled extensively and you just don't see it.
