when he fought back the bullying ended, but not everyone can do that, so it is up to all of us to fight back or the weak or naive or those that have been habituated to abuse so that they do not see it - otherwise nothing will ever change. In my life I have seen the behavioral norm really plumme to the point that people always seem ready to go off, and it is killing them.

also, violence is not the same as aggression, and aggression is not the same as being assertive or hands on. I think the non-thinker's attitude seems to be - say what appeals to people at the moment, and that is always to have conniptions over war and violence, yet unpleasant and uncontrolled as they are, they are a fact of life. But back to "Bully", the one thing that cured it for sure was when one kid decided he had enough and stood up and fought back. cont.

--- people steal the batteries out of the tsunami sirens in honolulu I find this amazing and almost unbelievable, how about you. It makes me want to vomit that there would be people so unconscious that they would run a risk of allowing maybe thousands of people to die in a tsunami for the sake of stealing a battery, and that someone who would do this is so criminally insane that I think shooting them on the spot would be something I would not convict anyone of if they were to do it. Ugh.

I think this is going to have to be a two part answer because first I want to thank for your not insulting me or calling me names. So sorry I did not see this for so long, but thanks for replying. First, I wonder why you asked me this? I was not so much advocating violence as force, and trying to be rather tongue in cheek, but since you ask … I just saw the movie "Bully" and I was amazed at how impotent and aloof the school administrators were about what is going on in their schools. cont.

I believe whole-heartedly with non-violence, BUT, that is when you are dealing with rational, civilized human beings, which apparently are an endangered species. But also … nothing is ever solved or resolve in all its aspects. There are occasions where there are punishments that fit the crime where nothing else will do. Someone who would steal a tsunami siren is severely anti-social in my view, so my poor attempt at humor was to say that the penalty for that ought to be very severe. cont.
