I recently got the results of a DNA ancestry kit back & was told I had more Neanderthal DNA than 74% of the company's customer base. My wife has taken this as an opportunity to go around telling everyone that I'm 74% Neanderthal! 😕

@fdpcompdm I'll do a Q & A sometime! 😄

@taihenne2116 😆 Funny enough we are much maligned and ancestrally misunderstood. Apparently the stooped over "ape" like gait was based on a single skeleton found in the cave, which, it has subsequently been discovered, was suffering from spinal soliosis! As for intellect... We actually had far bigger brains than modern humans.... So.... 😁👍

@_robustus_ Well the wife's been going around telling everyone that I'm actually 74% Neanderthal! For me it comes with the territory of being apparently very ancient Northern European. As a Brit I seem to be made up of everyone who invaded us - Germans, French, Norse & even 0.7% Italian which I can only think came from the Romans!

@denisovansdna I haven't had it measured for awhile but it was above average although those tests are highly subjective. Neanderthals might actually be the "brains" of the outfit! Our brains were bigger than other proto humans & the vestiges of where the gene is strongest are in some of the most productive & advanced areas of the planet!

@belmordok3661 Where are you getting that from? The furthest my Ancestral bus went East was Saxony in Germany?

@clam4597 I've only the one and his Italian content may well have increased with my wife who is 100% Italian.

@harrietharlow9929 I think maybe the physical traits were still evident 1000's of years ago but are only really detectable in our DNA now. One union between a very slight woman say & a more powerful man would probably give you a more balanced physic. Funny enough & years before all this came to light I went to a fancy dress once dressed as a caveman & everyone said they could see that! 😁 I'm probably slightly above average build 6' 220 lbs

@L.P.1987 Ok.

@pureapricity We are all different I guess....

@denisovansdna Yes that's true. 👍

@denisovansdna No problem. 👍

Same with 23&Me & I've more Neanderthal DNA than 74% of their customer base!

@_robustus_ Apparently the Neanderthals are much maligned. I think their "ape like gait" was down to the interpretation of a single skeleton which people now think had some spinal condition. Apparently we once roamed the areas that are the intellectual & cultural powerhouses now from Japan in a band through to the UK so maybe we weren't too dense! That said I've never amount to much in my life & when we visited some caves in France a few years back, no one could get me out for love nor money! 😆

@clossemarin3201 I'm not too sure....? I don't think mine was broken down into % as to what my personal actual DNA was.

@_robustus_ Most people with ancient European heritage have a high count. Really a band from Sweden down to the Pyrenees &: across to Japan.
