Back in 1972 I was privileged to handle a .Luger in the West Point Military Academy Museum. At that time the policy was any senior in good standing could request permission to do so and I happened to be there on a day this was being done. I was told it was one of the guns used in the trials ultimately giving us the 1911. I am of the belief it was a .45 Luger, and yes I know of the 30 AE Lugers and it wasn't one of those. So when you speak of their only being two authentic 45 Lugers in existence and speak of one in private hands, and one being at DWM, I naturally have to ask, has anyone checked the one at USMA?
