The STG-44 are the original that the russian stole and called the AK-47 The german did have a huge advantage with the STG-44 because it is a rifle that can shoot at a long distance and shooting a large number of bullets without reloading. Ofcourse the russians needed something similar to stand a chance on the battlefield.
