Meanwhile Jon Stewart just worked out how to save the US government many billions of dollars in two minutes on a television comedy show. To be fair to Deloitte, I suspect the Canadian waste/fraud/abuse fruit is not as low-hanging as it is in the US oligarchy. And I suspect Stewart had done some research (and had some done for him) in advance. To be fair to DOGE - the Democrats had plenty of opportunity to make those savings and did zip.

Nonsense. Electing Trump has changed nothing except the rhetoric.

Only then? Where have you been since 1950?

I'm hardly the first to remark on it. But WTF is the laughing about? It's impossible to tell, but easy to interpret as dismissive and even derisive. So much so that if that is not the case there really needs to be an explanatory and apologetic Bulwark comment pinned to the top of the comments section.

@robertruffo2134 It's still got fear. It's gotten by on that for some time now.

No. It's two governments divvying up the spoils under the smokescreen of it being about individuals. Of course, no question that those individuals will get their cut.

But electing Trump isn't something that happened to USA. It's something the USA did.

@oceanecastelnau9821 Yes it's offensive. But shock implies some degree of suddenness and surprise.

To Virtual Signal or not to Virtue Signal ... that is the question. Here's a hint - the sword fight in Indiana Jones. And I have to say - Virtue Signalling is irritating enough. Listening to someone agonize over whether it's more important than being real about fascism is the living end.

You've got it back-to-front. It's not what America has that the rest of the world needs. It what the rest of the world has that America wants. What America has is military might and money.

No; Gaza is a nightmare because Americans protect the rogue state known as Israel.
1
Huh? China is your foe? Why? What have they done to the US? Other than doing capitalism better than the US does it.
1
Huh? What exactly do you think Zionism IS? It's a plan for Jewish control of Palestine; ethnic cleansing was always an inseparable part of that. What part of that is so hard to grasp? Roald Dahl, the children's author who was shot down over Palestine while flying for the RAF in WW2, ran into someone who was telling him about their plans to establish a Jewish colony there. Roald Dahl's only comment: It occurred to me that the problem with that was there were already other people living there. OK, Roald Dahl is a bright guy. But really, it's not rocket science. israel was established by ethnic cleansing in the 1950s and now it wants to expand its territory.

America doesn't have allies. It has vassal states. The rest of the world has been bending over for decades. All that Trump's doing is removing the veneer. And Bill Kristol - I DON"T care about fighting China. Neither do I care FOR fighting China.

10:00 Oh come on. There was a reason why we never saw Joe Biden. We found out that reason in the Biden-Trump debate last June. And it wasn't "poor messaging". For Democrats to pretend otherwise is insulting and, frankly, shows they Just Don't Get It.

McConnell wouldn't be the first dementia sufferer to forget their evil self. I think that his mind has returned to a time before he was utterly corrupted.

@Dave-om6nd To clarify. I was referring to the savings identified by Jon Stewart. I had thought that went without saying. DOGE isn't making those massive and relatively easily identified savings. But the Dems didn't either.

To be honest ... Kamala's little speech, effectively saying "Look, I'm in the Right and Trump is in the Wrong" ... for my money it made her look just as childish as Vance indisputably did. More importantly, it highlighted the extent to which American democracy is just window-dressing. Look to Brazil for a democracy that dealt with comparable situation effectively and in a measured way via the law. The moral high-ground is a pretty bleak (and weak) place when you've reached it with the aid of blinkers that made you lose sight of how the Bad guys were taking over everywhere else. Both Obama and Biden have a lot to answer for there. Biden wasn't helped by his mental deterioration - in. his speeches about Democracy he sounded like a caricature of himself, as he did in his speeches about how grateful Europe would be that the US was going to retake its rightful place at the head of the Western world. Ultimately the Democrats didn't even achieve the moral high-ground, just a small hillock. Sending weapons and military and political support to a fascist country for the purpose of ethnic cleansing is disqualifying.

Gaza is one issue in which there is zero difference between the Biden and Trump administrations, except that Trump speaks the quiet part out loud. Biden himself may not have known that the Gaza massacres were about fast-tracking Israel's ethnic cleansing agenda, but I refuse to believe that whatever mentally competent person/group was actually running his administration was unaware for one second. On the average Americans are abysmally ignorant and heavily propagandized, but the American elite is are least as bright and knowledgeable as any elite on the planet.

Big tip: I wouldn't be hosting US bases on my land if I were Canada.

Don't tell me Trump's helping ANOTHER war criminal. And Biden also helped a war criminal. It seems to be what the US does these days.

As concerns your point about not having a holocaust again, Bill Kristol. I have sad new for you. It's already happened. This time perpetrated by the group who were the target of the WWII holocaust. Who ever could have thought.

It made me cringe to watch Zelensky popping up like a puppet wherever the Biden administration told him to go. What an idiot allowing the country that promoted him from popular actor to President to be the venue for an American war with Russia using Ukrainians as canon fodder.
