Huh? What line is that? The BOTTOM line is that Russia was never going to accept a government in its backyard (Ukraine) that supported American controlled military bases on its territory. Both Zelensky and the US knew that but supported the NATO push east anyway. Handing the US an American proxy war advocate's wet dream - a war in which no lives are lost (that matter!) and a country that would stand very long term against American world dominance is seriously weakened. Every day this war lasts weakens Russia further, which is why the US wants it to last as long as possible.

I once read a story with the immortal line "Hypocritical Nazis. What is the world coming to?" Still. The sheer hypocrisy of these "defense" types still gets to me.

I absolutely believe that the invasion of Taiwan by the US is inevitable. That's why it funded and pushed through in the United Nations the creation of this artificial "country" by the corrupt ousted ex-government of China - in order to control part of China. Now that China is threatening to out-Capitalist the US, the US won't hesitate to go to war to retain its global economic dominance (as it has done repeatedly all over the world) using its control of this part of China as an military asset in its war against China.

Virtue has less than nothing to do with it. The Saudis have a LOT of money and a LOT of oil. Israel is another strongly US oriented country established with US economic, political, and weapons assistance also located in the biggest oil region in the world.

@danimalplanet18 Precisely. The "human rights" thing is just a bit of propaganda that gets thrown in when the US wants to justify one of its invasions or proxy wars to the gullible.

Oh for goodness sake! WHOSE security? The people of Taiwan will be secure from war provided the US does not invade or alternatively send massive funds and weapons to dissidents. What do you expect the US government would do if Trump established a government in Alabama with popular democratic support and another country sent him money and weapons and pleaded his case to the UN on the basis of support for self-determination? For that matter, what did the US do to the Confederacy, which had strong democratic support? Give. Me. A. Break. It's all about US power and money.
