What is being done is insane. Sweden got it right. I would expect collapse in the UK, with accompanying bloody violence if this level of debt is needed, and the deaths from untreated other diseases including cancers not treated will dwarf the covid19 deaths. The gross failure to protect the retirement homes was criminally uncaring and worse, , and if that had been done the death numbers would have made this a very different experience. A MASSIVE public health and national management failure. A generation will be impoverished by this. The actual death rates are a very tiny fraction of those predicted, on which this gross panic was based. I read the prior projections re Mad Cow and others was equally absurd. If that is so, then criminal incompetence by ministers and Johnson must be the conclusion.\ They are desperate for a vaccine. Without that this strategy looks utterly crazy, and completely unsustainable.
