  1. Since the Chinese 🇨🇳 invasion of the independent Tibet in 1950, over 6,000 Buddhist monasteries and temples have been destroyed . This widespread destruction was accelerated during the Cultural Revolution. In the 1959 uprising alone, around 87,000 Tibetans were killed. Most were monks. China is still occupying Tibet.
