@vetzaaak noam, we live in a different society, I assume that you live in a socialist society, or wish you could (which you can if you are an american, the door is open). the us, and it's constitution / system of government is based on INDIVIDUAL liberties, freedoms and rights. again, if you want to live in a society of "collective" rights and freedoms, go live in norway. living as a free man is hard... it's difficult and hard on people, and many, especially the weak, would prefer to live in a collective society, but again, that's not how this country was set up. I assume, making comments about spending money on our military, that you are not familiar with our nation's constitution. read it once or twice. it spells out the duties, and limitations of your government! the purpose of our government is not, nor ever has been, to provide goods and services. nor does our government have the authority (not supposed to have the authority) to take from some, simply to give to others. and yes, we do take care of the poor in this country... safe? all citizens are protected by services such as policing. healthcare? we have safety nets to care for the poor and/or elderly. have you seriously never heard of medi-care / caid?? if you want more than these basic services, you have to work for it. again, this is tough, and hard on people. but you are free to pursue your dreams in this country, become wealthy, or not, get educated, or not, etc.... you are also free in this country to live under a bridge, and use drugs, if you so choose. providing for yourself is hard work... if you want to be cared for, without any effort, move to norway. if you want the government to take all of my money to provide you with healthcare, insulin, and an education, why the hell am I going to educate myself and work all damned day? why don't YOU work all day, and give me half of what you earn so that I can have all of these things!?? well in places like norway, that's basically how it works... equal outcome, regardless of effort. again, this country is based on INDIVIDUAL liberties, rights and freedoms. and along with that comes opportunity to work hard, and accumulate more than my neighbor! if the government is going to divy up my earning, flock it... I'll sit on the couch all day and you can work to provide me with "free stuffs"..... but you aren't that stupid to be enslaved in such a way... are you????

@vetzaaak the lecture on american values comes from your obvious "criticism" of american, and it's governing system. "darwinistic capitalism"?? obviously you believe our system is flawed, and I assume you are all for the progressive "fundamental transformation" of that system... so far as your "but I just responded (past tense) to your questions "and what are your suggestions as to how to deal with wealth inequality"".... you didn't give any suggestions (past tense) as that was your post to answer that questions and provide any suggestions that you might have, but you not provide any suggestions... again, you criticized our form of government, and said that you failed to see how "slightly expanding" our safety nets would turn the country into a socialist prison..... the reason that you did not provide any answer/suggestions, is because we both know there is only one answer you would be able to give. you basically said it, in a non-direct way, with your "slightly expanding safety net systems" comment. I assume you didn't directly say it is because you know the only way is for the government to play "robin hood" and take from those who have earned, and give to those who have not earned, which is absolutely a socialist concept that goes against america's core values! good grief noam... maybe you're not a bright as I am trying to give you credit for....
