Those overseeing, who could run, are Republicans, so they overlooked that little residency nicety.

@smokerise The idea of not allowing someone to run, if they have been arrested, sounds great until you think it through. That means the police could arrest anyone they dislike, and knock them out of the running. That is the sort of thing autocrats do. Have not many civil rights leaders been arrested? Should that bar them from public office?

@joseleon4580 What you think is incorrect. It might have been true several decades ago, but not now. Now, the more educated a person is, the more likely that they will vote for Democrats. And better educated people tend to make more money. Only a large portion of the top 1% of income choose Republicans, just to lower their tax burden. That may not be true for black folk, who tend to vote for Democrats, regardless of income. For whites, who still make up 2/3 of Georgia, the more money you have, the more likely to vote for Democrats.

@smokerise I've googled it, and while the police were called out, they declined to arrest Warnock. His ex said he ran over her foot, but would not allow paramedics to examine or treat her. The cops weren't stupid enough to fall for her line of BS.

Georgia is not as bad as Kentucky.

Great idea, although I think a couple years are sufficient, but they must be immediately prior to running. I grew up in Southern California, but have lived in Oregon for the second half of my life. I should not run for office, in my home state, but my current one.

Which counties have had long lines on voting day? Weren't those the more populated counties? Shouldn't they be allowed to have a larger window of voting, to overcome the higher demand?

Republicans noticed that in 2020, when more lenient rules were put in place for Covid-19 safety, Democrats did better. They didn't want more of that.
