  3. What are his qualifications again? He doesn't have a degree in microbiology, virology, immunology, or anything that would make him an expert! His very first statement was absolutely false! The latest variants are not more transmissible. (He said transmissive, which is both wrong and the wrong terminology.) Omicron, BA.2 and the like are more immune evasive not more transmissible. They are also not milder, as some ignoramuses have claimed. Those with immunity still can be infected, but they are protected against severe disease. And while vaccinated people, shed less virus, there is no known vaccine that blocks transmission or infection. Unless you're really immunodeficient, there isn't much need to be boosted more often than yearly. The reason that the first booster was needed was, the first two vaccines were given too close together to allow somatic hypermutation (which protects against variants not yet experienced), so a third dose was needed. Much of what he spoke of just shows his ignorance. No vaccine can prevent infection. The mRNA vaccines are amazing, for the breadth and strength of the immunity they produce, much more so than any previous against any respiratory disease. Usually, unless a virus causes a viremia (blood infection) such a strong immune response is not produced. That is why the mRNA vaccines evoke an even better immune response than infection. Also, even when your humoral adaptive immune response contracts, and you have less circulating IgG, you still have memory B and T cells, and that immunity persists for years, not months. So much of what Gates said is just wrong. Please, please, please, bring on real experts, not these uninformed twits, no matter how well meaning. I would suggest Vincent Racaniello, who has a PhD in virology, and teaches at Columbia. If you contact him, he'll come on your show and give you accurate information.
