@DeathMetalMercenary That's absolutely false. Coronaviruses mutate whether or not there is stress. On average, there is one mutation per replication. You clearly know nothing of either viral or bacterial genetics. If the immune system is trained to kill the virus (ie. you're immune) the virus cannot replicate, so there is no mutation. Thus, the virus is mutating mostly in unvaccinated hosts. (BTW Bacteria have extra genetic material (DNA) on plasmids, and that is where the proteins that provide antibiotic resistance are located. Under stress, bacteria transmit their plasmids to many other bacteria. That helps develop antibiotic resistance quickly. Viruses have no such plasmids.)

@StickmanMook So another commenter who knows nothing about viral genetics spews another lie. Coronaviruses are quite different from influenza viruses. The genome of influenza is contained in seven or eight (depending on type) separate units. If a cell is infected by two different strains of influenza, those subunits can reassort, giving rise to a brand new strain. So while influenza viruses and coronaviruses mutate at about the same rate, influenza viruses have a lot more genetic variability over time. Reassortment is the reason we have to get a different influenza vaccine each year, not mutation. duh

False.

@marclagalle1486 It's obvious that the virus needs a large population of unvaccinated people (or animals) to mutate. On average, one mutation occurs in a coronavirus with every replication. And the unvaccinated allow the virus to replicate a lot, unhindered by an adaptive immune response.

If you love being lied to, watch Fox.

Listen carefully to what she said. The vaccines were never intended to prevent infection, like every other vaccine. They are meant to prevent severe disease, disability and death.
3
@willtellall638 Probably because none of those disease cause as much death or disability in those it infects.

@mikebenge2853 If the mandates have been useless, it is because so many scofflaws are flaunting them. People have had enough of the unvaccinated.

False!

Do you even know what the population of Israel is?

The epitopes on omicron are different enough, that it has some immune evasion. That is why people with previous infections, and those immunized, but not boosted, are getting ill, although not seriously. Fortunately, it seems the T cell epitopes are less variable than the B cell epitopes. But, it usually takes a few days, after infection, to get a significant population of killer T cells.

Actually, the study was done on a large cross section of states, both red and blue. Read it before you make false claims.
1
Really? I have two Israeli family members, who were fully vaccinated and boosted just once. They tested positive, and the only symptoms they have are stuffy noses. Meanwhile, the unvaccinated are dying in droves. BTW that study based immunity on IgG titers, when most protection comes from killer T cells. IgG is not a good correlate of protection.
1
No, only the brainwashed disbelieve data.
1
Because the unvaccinated are the ones keeping the pandemic going.

Masks are meant to protect others from the wearer. If you don't want to wear a mask, don't go out in public.

Funny how you extoll science, sense, rational thinking, data and compassion, when you clearly lack all those qualities.
