This film was totally unimportant. Star Wars, which came out the year before, was far more influential, and changed much more in the film industry. I was in college, at UCLA, when both films came out. Nobody gave a damn about Animal House, but everyone was impressed with Star Wars. One friend even changed his major from engineering to film, to work on special effects, because of Star Wars. I had plenty of friends in the "industry" and all of them talked about Star Wars, even decades later. Nobody talked about Animal House, ever. They did talk about Fritz the Cat, 1972, and about Heavy Metal, 1981. They were both ground breaking, Animal House was not.

One of my frat brothers (Alpha Chi Sigma was co-ed since 1970) got into EST. He changed from a really nice guy, to a total est-hole. We got so sick of him, whenever he said anything we said "Thank you for sharing, now shut up." Eventually he shut up.

Vietnam ended because the party that started US involvement lost power, and the party that never wanted to be in Indochina came to power. If the US had elected Goldwater we'd never have gotten in that mess.

Bull. I was at uni from 1976 to 1980. North campus UCLA, where all the fuzzy studies like sociology were, was totally Marxist. South campus, engineering, math and science, was where the sane people were, but north campus was full of bleeding heart liberals without any common sense.

Maybe that is true of some social frats, but it certainly is false about the professional frats. I belonged to AXΣ, a chemistry fraternity. It went co-ed in 1970, so lost its house. (UCLA living was segregated by sex because of a bequest by Myra Hershey.) Instead, we had most of the basement of Young Hall for our use. I wouldn't have made it through without my frat brothers (many of who were also girls.) We only had three parties a year, after finals week was over. My husband wouldn't have had a place to live, if not for his frat at MIT, ZBT.
