  1. The problem is the way the FSU privatized nationalized holdings. Rather than just give each citizen a chit for their share of resources, which they promptly sold to buy food, Russia should have continued running extraction processes, or sold rights to private companies, and divvied up the profits among the citizens. That is how Alaska deals with its oil wealth.

  2. Unless the US refuses to sign any agreement with Iran, that does not curtail their support of terrorists, the Saudis and Emirates are not going to help. And, most European ports don't have the needed facilities to receive LGN, so middle eastern natural gas won't help them.
