Gee, if Trump had raised the national gas tax and used the extra revenue to repair the transport infrastructure, we would not only have better roads and bridges, but the gas efficient cars manufactured, in those plants GM is closing, would have sold better. Keeping Obama era emission standards would have also helped those smaller sedans to sell. Instead he put tariffs on steel, which made the cars more expensive to build. Plus, retaliation tariffs make the cars harder to sell abroad.

  2. In my lifetime I've owned a Toyota Corolla, a Honda Accord, a Toyota Previa, and now a Toyota Prius. I looked at US cars, but always found the Japanese ones to be more fuel efficient. The only US car I came close to buying was the Chevy Volt, which is one of the cars made in the plant GM is closing.
