Racism is treating people as inferior because they are different. Racism from a person with power may affect people more. But, an ignorant, powerless person stating racist comments is still racism. I am sick of the attitude that only white people can be racist. I had a Chinese American roommate whose brother was an absolute bigot. He came into our room, then said "Hey can't you get a roommate who isn't a round-eye?" He then preceded to make snarky comments about how white people aren't into education and hard work like Chinese. I told him that I was a Jew, and we are known to stress education and hard work, and that I was doing research with a NSF grant. His response, "Oh, Jews are from Asia, so you aren't really white." He was a racist, even if he wasn't white. I get the same sort of nonsense from my (black) son-in-laws family. They feel free to make racist comments about whites in front of my daughter, because Jews aren't really white. Racists come in all colors, and Jeong is a racist.
