  1. I've been really depressed, about voting, this year. I'm a registered Democrat, but the Democrats, in my state are too far left. They only care about identity politics, and revisionist history, and aren't doing anything for the average citizen, while taxing us into poverty. So, I looked at the Republicans. They're even madder. Many are Qanon or radical christian nationalists. Yikes. I'm so happy Betsy Johnson is running. That's one office where I don't have to write in my adult children's names, or my cat's.

  4.  @jimbob3030  Maybe not you. But, there are a lot of genuine conservatives (not the RiNOs who kiss Trump's backside) who'd like a candidate that stands for what they do.

  6. Maybe. But, she has my vote. All the Republicans and Democrats are insane, so I'm glad to finally get something different. She's anti-crime, pro-choice and wants to get the homeless off our streets, and into shelters. Excellent. I wish there were such a sane Independent running for the 1st Congressional District. I'm tired of Bonamici, but the Republican running against her is a complete nutjob. I was talking to my neighbor yesterday, and she too is sick of our choices. We're both liberals, from minority groups, and would like better government for our taxes. She's another vote for Johnson. Of five neighbors, that I've talked to, four are voting for Johnson. Maybe that's just SW Portland, where property taxes are high, and the cops don't give a damn, but if our street is representative of the state, she'll win.

  9. In 2016, I voted for Hillary Clinton. But, this year, for governor, I'm voting for Betsy Johnson. I didn't regret my vote then, and I won't regret this one, no matter the results.

  10. That would require a constitutional amendment, which would never pass both houses. And even if it did, would never get ratified by enough states.

  11. When you cannot stand either of your choices, from the two main parties, an independent gives you the option of a protest vote. Even if your candidate doesn't win, you send a message. In many cases, it's either that, or writing in one of my children or pets.
