Harvey Grant Actually, the misnamed Spanish flu originated in Northern China. France and Britain wanted to free up laborers to fight WWI, so hired Chinese to fill their jobs. The Chinese workers brought the flu with them. At first it was called the French flu.

@savannah505 The main sticking point was stock buybacks. The Democrats wanted to prevent bailed-out companies from using the money for stock buybacks until the money is repaid. The Republicans want the Treasury Sec. to be able to authorize them for stock buy backs. The practice of stock buybacks was illegal until 1982, many think it should be made illegal again because they hurt the US economy.

@skr9913 If China did not allow the trade and consumption of endangered animals, the world would not have had to deal with both SARS and Covid-19. The link between eating endangered animals and these diseases was established by a Chinese scientist. Stop eating civet cats and pangolins. Just stop killing endangered animals.
