  3. In several US states (mine being the first to do so, in 1998) the voters opted to only vote by mail. Since we don't get voting day off, voting only by mail greatly increases voter turnout.

  4. When one votes by mail, one has to sign one's ballot. This serves as verification of whose ballot it is. If a signature is enough for a check, it should be enough for a vote. And signature verification software has been around since the 1970s, and works very well.
