@not libtard You clearly have not studied immunology in college. Vaccines introduce certain epitopes to the adaptive immune system, so it can develop T and B cell memory against those epitopes. That means, when you are infected with a pathogen, containing those epitopes, your immune system only needs a few days, not weeks, to roll out its big guns, killer T cells and antibodies. That difference in timing makes the difference between a mild infection and severe infection. And that is why we vaccinate.

@markgreen4612 Even Trump is now telling his cult to be vaccinated. Hopefully that will give DeSantis cover to embrace logic and science.

@mackdaddypeypey1 In no universe, is someone as ill informed about medicine, as you are, a physician. Your channel shows you're a gamer. So you're also a troll paid to lie.

@gekisaidai1811 Yes, vaccination greatly lowers the risk of hospitalization or death. It also decreases the amount of virus produced, and greatly shortens the amount of time virus is spread. Of course it reduces the amount of virus spread by the infected individual, a great deal. Also, it has not been proven that omicron is produces less severe infection, in the unvaccinated. Because its epitopes evade some immunity, immune individuals are becoming infected, and they have milder symptoms.

@pipermarie8393 If you're unvaccinated, you aren't capable of critical thinking. You certainly haven't done a reasonable risk assessment. Most of the people getting seriously ill, and filling the hospitals, are unvaccinated. The people allowing the virus to replicate unchecked, giving rise to new variants, are unvaccinated. If you're not vaccinated, you are the problem. Other countries have inadequate vaccine, so have an excuse for variants arising there. We don't.

Joe Biden Says: Unlike religion, science changes with new data. That's not flip flopping, that is adapting.

@markcicero7931 No, Israel just started with a second booster for the immunocompromised. There is no discussion of requiring it for the general public. Even basic vaccination is not mandated, it is just required to go into certain enclosed spaces, like theaters, gyms and shopping malls.

That 75% measurement is for circulating neutralizing antibodies, which naturally contract with time, after the adaptive immune response is evoked. You still have memory B and T cells, but as they are hard to measure (you'd need bone and lymph node biopsies) we only know how long they persist in animal models. Vaccine educated T cells still have a high enough affinity for omicron, to be effective. Yes, a vaccine more specific for the mutated epitopes of omicron, would evoke a better immunity, but by the time a reformulation of the vaccine is approved by the FDA, there will be a new variant in circulation. This may become like influenza, where a committee decides which epitopes to immunize against each year.

Joe Biden Says: The so called lab leak wild conspiracy theory is not supported by any reputable virologist. The genetics of the original Wuhan strain, and the locations of all the original human infections, demonstrate it emerged from bats, passed through another mammal, and then to humans at wet markets. Take a look at where all the first patients lived, on the wrong side of the river for it to have come from a lab, clustered around two wet markets.

Israel is only offering a second booster to the immunocompromised.

@DavidGetling You want to enrich big pharma, stay unvaccinated. Pfizer has made a lot more money, from its new antiviral, than all the vaccines administered.

@DavidGetling Big whoop. My IQ is more than 25 points higher, and my degrees are in microbiology (UCLA) and computer science (OGI). I'm unimpressed by a teaching degree, as my children's science teachers, in high school, were utter idiots. The chem teacher couldn't manage to teach stoichiometry well.
