The historical record reports that "Barges" had been concentrated in French Ports. Germany had no troop transports, and few suitable freighters. She intended to pull those barges behind tugs, screening them with both Luftwaffe and Kriesgmarine assets. Scary.

It seems to me that the first thing that's damaged or carried away during a surface engagement is (100%) your topside RaDAR equipment. Depending on it to guide dozens of missiles to their targets over the course of the battle is a very risky business. If anything hits you, all those missiles go on forever . . . unguided . . . wasted. It might be better to line your decks with 40mm autocannon.

Moreover, if anything detonates in the air, then all your guidance is temporarily saturated with hundreds or thousands of reflecting bits. Once detonations become common, all RaDAR will be effectively severely degraded. The only weapons not affected by this problem are the DUMB ones: iron bombs, and unguided kinetic projectiles.
