@nathanr.8556 Then why do you keep replying to me?

They're called elections and they happen quite often.

@nathanr.8556 You're going to give Betweentheair nightmares lol

@Averagegunenthusiast The laws DO spell out what an assault weapon is. Remember the assault weapon ban in 94? It didn't pass and the entire nation do a collective shrug because they didn't know what was banned. It spelled out exactly what makes a weapon an assault weapon. This is why I call out people for being disingenuous.

This is a joke right? Only a child would think carrying a copy of the constitution would trump existing gun laws.
1
Actually it's quite easy. A shop is selling illegal guns? Arrest the owner and shut down the shop. We already do that. Holy cow how have you not thought of that?
1
@betweentheair I do. You said "good luck enforcing it" and I showed you exactly how it would be enforced. I'm glad you learned something today.
1
@betweentheair If you're trying to say they should have added a provision to go door-to-door collecting guns; then I'm really glad you don't write legislation! Guns in circulation come from somewhere they don't fall from the sky.

@cthulhu7266 How is a no-knock warrant unconstitutional?
1
@cthulhu7266 I can't agree or disagree with you since the phrase "out of line" is so vague. I hope whoever that was had a copy of the constitution on him!
1
@lazygod2245 Actually I said the opposite. But that's alright I know critical thinking isn't your strong suit 😎
1
@gundamcollector77 Why is the MAGA crowd obsessed with this civil war fantasy? Give it a rest Meal Team 6.
1
@chinhphan4787 What is unconstitutional?
1
@cal4840 <------ Nobody tell him that we've already had an assault weapons ban and none of his doomsday prophecies happened
1
@cal4840 It's a compromised solution by restricting the more dangerous types of weapons and parts such as high capacity magazines. Guns are already heavily restricted. You can't just go buy a fully automatic weapon or a gun silencer for example. I'd be happy to see a ban on all semi-automatic guns or at least a 5 round magazine limit.
1
@Max Larson It didn't happen the last time we passed an assault weapons ban :person-turqouise-waving:
1
@timothyavendt677 First off unless your interpretation of the constitution fits modern jurisprudence it's not going to do any good. I've seen more people misinterpret it than get it right. Second, you're already jumping ahead to the court trial and we're still in the officer arrest phase. 3rd the constitution is in effect amended every time the Supreme Court makes a ruling. None of that is included in the copy of the constitution but is essential to modern law. I'm telling you again if you're actually breaking the law holding up a copy of the constitution to a cop isn't going to help you. It will likely do the opposite.
1
Why is it that it's always the gun nuts that don't know what an assault weapon is? lmao. Read the bill geniuses. I guess you shouldn't care if a thing that doesn't exist is banned though right?
1
@onlinebills9169 Will carrying it increase your rights? Nope.
1
@Tellmebout Yes there is.
1
@Tellmebout Every single piece of legislation that regulates assault weapons has a clearly defined definition. Lord almighty why can nobody ever google their questions anymore? It isn't hard.
1
@Averagegunenthusiast A mass shooter is much more of a threat than a person with a knife. The claim "they'll just use something else" doesn't pass the smell test. Edit: Also the assault weapons ban from 1994 worked. We calculated that the risk of a person in the U.S. dying in a mass shooting was 70% lower during the period in which the assault weapons ban was active. The proportion of overall gun homicides resulting from mass shootings was also down, with nine fewer mass-shooting-related fatalities per 10,000 shooting deaths.

@Tellmebout Here, since you're too lazy to look it up: Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and has two or more of the following: Folding or telescoping stock Pistol grip Bayonet mount Flash hider or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one Grenade launcher Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following: Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor Barrel shroud safety feature that prevents burns to the operator A manufactured weight of 50 ounces (1.41kg) or more when the pistol is unloaded A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm. Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following: Folding or telescoping stock Pistol grip A fixed magazine capacity in excess of 5 rounds Detachable magazine.

@danmeeks193 All words and all definitions are made up. That's how language works.
1
@BSConservativeGOAT Bruh, read the first reply to this post. Pretty crazy right?
1
@danmeeks193 We literally made up all of those terms as well and they change and evolve to suit our needs. What it means to be human has recently changed once we saw apes using tools. You're also forgetting that language has context. Language used inside of laws is of a more precise nature than the language we use in every day life. Face it, the claim "nobody knows what an assault weapon is" has no merit and has been answered dozens of times in this thread. It's also beside the point and has nothing to do with whether or not we should restrict them. It's a way for gun nuts to deflect from the real question at hand.

@Fuego-s8i It's about lethality not looking scary.
