Usually contempt of court has a penalty of 180 days in jail or a fine, sometimes both, per Contempt Charge
And a Judge, if upset enough , will indeed dump your butt in jail for contempt.
Nor sure exact law in Teaxs .
However...
Perjury on the other hand, now THAT has teeth, depending on how harsh the Judge is or wants to be.
Again not sure about Texas Law, but in general you can receive something like 5-10 years for every Charge of Perjury and a hefty $10,000 fine per charge, because it can be a third degree Felony, which is really bad.
And it does appear the Judge in the Jones case is not very happy with him, so he cold be looking at 10-15 years on Perjury Charges.
