  1. The Yamatos weren't actually built until after Japan formally withdrew from the Washington and London Naval Treaties. A better example of Japan's blatant cheating would be the Mogami-class cruisers. They were claimed to displace 8,500 tons, while actually displacing 11,200 tons (12% over the limit).
