  1.  @brendonbewersdorf986  There's nothing odd about the 13.8" guns intended for the Mackensen-class battlecruisers (and the extremely similar gun of the same caliber intended for Austria-Hungary's Ersatz Monarch-class battleships). 13.8" is 35cm.

I've always wondered why Japan didn't respond to the Great Kanto Earthquake by using the material scrapped from Amagi to build an exact copy of her as their second large carrier and insisting it was still just the converted battlecruiser. Some of their actual examples of cheating on treaty limits were more extreme than that would be.

  3.  @calebshonk5838  If Kaga were still in her original configuration, she would've had fewer and less capable aircraft. So no, keeping the multiple flight decks wouldn't have helped at Midway.
