Given that Rodney was able to reach 25 knots (albeit by pushing the hell out of the engines) while chasing Bismarck, how much speed do you think she would've been capable of if refitted in 1944 with more modern machinery? Also, how do you think Nelson and Rodney would've fared if they had been built to the F3 battlecruiser design? She would've ended up with "only" 3x3 15"/50 instead of 3x3 16"/45, but since those would've used the same shells as the existing 15"/42 instead of the questionable relatively lightweight shell chosen for the 16" guns that doesn't seem like much of a downgrade. And by battlecruiser standards the F3 was fairly well protected, and the top speed of 29 knots would've allowed for carrier escort duty..
