  2.  @KaptenN  In the late 1950s, Britain did some testing on the concept of using a fuel tank as part of the "armor" for the FV4401 (an airborne tank destroyer project that ended up being cancelled). Apparently, the testing showed that in terms of stopping a projectile, 3 inches of diesel is equivalent to 1 inch of RHA steel plate.
