  1. Comedians used to only have to face hecklers at live shows. People like Maher who can’t handle internet criticism likely would fold with most hecklers. What happened instead is that his audience has become a niche set of followers. I used to watch him on occasion, but the whinyness became unbearable for me. Maher is particularly narcissistic and annoying, but he is not alone in his role as a “comic who cried cancel culture.”

  2.  @theaviary238  you’re hilarious. Are you a comedian? 😎 I don’t know what comedy clubs you’ve been to, but I’ve been to several, and worked in a pub with a comedy club in the base. I’ve never seen hecklers removed, not even during a recorded comedy special. What I have witnessed are comedians who make quick witted fun make quick work of hecklers. It’s part of the show most times. Occasionally I’ve seen drunk, unruly people removed. That’s because they are drunk and unruly, not because they are hecklers. Drunk people who try to heckle are child’s play for any decent comedian. So if people like Maher are that poor at handling criticism, they need a break from the biz, so they can return fresh snd ready to go.
