Here are the nice things I’ll say about Mayor Pete: he is intelligent, he does know a bunch of languages (yes, I know; a more appropriate post would’ve been in the Middle East), and he’s a talented musician (so why not NEA?). It was obvious to many that when Buttegieg, Harris, and Booker all dropped out of the race, that there were at least hopes of deals. What I will say is that the US has progressed enough now that an openly gay white man can reap the same privileges that straight and straight presenting white men can. He’s gotten so many passes this year that progressives and women have not. His appearance on the Iowa Black Summit was admirable, I guess, because he showed up even though he’s super out of touch with the black and brown population. I do hope that Turner wins her race, because that’s be yet another true progressive on Capitol Hill. Slowly we turn...
