@koda3967 How? Virtually all the chains are independently-owned. Weston and co. barely even make any money from sales. They make most of their money from (commercial) real estate and royalties.

@vmitchinson That's because the independent grocery store doesn't have the money or floor space to get merchandise in bulk at cut-rate prices on top of having a limited customer base.

@vmitchinson If you were the government, you would do nothing as you're not going to risk having people starve because you taxed and regulated their access to food out of business just to combat perceived greed.
