By the way, if America doesnt like what another country is doing, what do they do? They sanction that country. Do we not take them off our the SWIFT system? Do we not forsake the country. What happened with Cuba? The other countries you mention may have their own currencies but are all buying military support from the US in one way or another. And the Petro dollar used to be absolute. ALL OIL transactions used to be in the US dollar. I don't know, more and more, it sounds like the US is an empire to me...

Hey, something else YOU never addressed which occurred NOT all that long ago. If you don't know what I mean, do I have to mention the 13th amendment? Did we not we not fight a Civil War here, as you're supposedly an economist and a US Citizen... What did America do? Where did these people who worked the plantations in the South come from. Oh, what currency is MOST debt taken in ?? It's in US dollars. What is your feeling on Russia, Belarus, Romania, China, Venezuela, and Cuba to name a few. What does the US try to do? We don't try to impose our beliefs on other countries ???

Sorry.. How do you define an empire?? Who is has been the worlds arbitrator?? Who relies on the US's military? Who has the world's reserve currency.. The fact that parts of Eastern Europe may "like" the US is NOT any way/ reason to refute that the US is an empire..

I am just curious how you backup that countries in Western Europe love the US... Doesn't feel like France loves the US especially when US non French speaking people go to France during tourism season ...!!!

By the way, I might suggest, if you have NOT already, to read Ray Dalio's , "The Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail". You may possibly reconsider your opinion, if not solely from a, "monetary economist"' perspective. at least that will be a major factor in your consideration...

@EconLessons Opinions vary, however, I only read Adam Smith when I was in university for CS. I wish we. as in the US, took more of Adam Smith's theories to heart and implemented them as they were meant to be. However, between Ray Dalio, AND Peter St. Onge, these two are well worth investing your time and effort to learn more about their thinking and theories..

There is certainly a contrarian opinion to yours... The nations like Brasil, Indian, China, South Africa, Iran, and the UAE ( I intentionally left out Russia because that was implied) . There is an awful lot of countries there. There is an awful lot of hate there. .. So many conflicting opinions. Seems like the US is trying to impose their will on so many countries. Maybe we are an empire ???
